CONCEPT
French Bistro – Toranomon, Tokyo
With the concept of "Lux in daily life", you can enjoy a rich selection of more than 600
kinds of wine, along with the various dishes that the owner sommelier Michihito Higashihara
encountered during his eight-year stay in France, as if you were surrounded by the local ambience.
The “Ararat” is named after a real sacred mountain that is said to be the final destination
of the god-blessed devout Noah and the pairs of all animals in the flood that brought the
end of the world, a passage from the Old Testament.
We are aiming for a restaurant that can be the destination where customers enjoy simple
dishes with various wine.

Michihito Higashihara
In 1991, Born in Nagoya City (Aichi).
In 2012, Went to France and educated by many of the world's best sommeliers
at the sommelier school l'Ecole Worldsom in Bordeaux.
Obtained the WORLDSOM Magister Diplome and invested as
COMMANDERIE DU BONTEMPS MEDOC ET GRAVES - SAUTERNES ET BARSAC.
In 2014, Started his courier in France as a sommelier at La Grande Maison Joël Robuchon Bordeaux(**),
and worked at Tour d'Argent Paris.
From 2017 to 2019, Worked as an assistant chef sommelier at Hotel La Reserve Paris Restaurant Gabriel.
After that, he worked at the restaurant Apicius Paris as the head of the sommelier department
till he returned to Japan in April 2020.
In 2017, Selected as one of the six members “Sommelier de l’annee” of Le Chef,
a famous French culinary magazine.
In 2019, Awarded the 8th J.S.A Sommelier Scholarship

Kotaro Miyoshi
In 1986, Born in Tokyo.
In 2011, Moved to France after working as a sommelier at a restaurant in Tokyo.
He visited a lot of famous brewery in France while studying systematic tasting at
ISVV (Grape and Wine Science Institute)in Faculty of Brewing, Bordeaux University-II.
In 2014, Obtained DUAD (official taster) diploma from ISVV.
After returning to Japan, he worked as a sales buyer at a wine import trading company,
dealing in not only classic French wine but also natural wine from Spain and Portugal.
In 2021, Assumed Ararat director appealed from the Owner Higashihara.
